I've known rivers of gold
Speeding through fingers' touch,
Too brisk for them to latch
To minds that easily fold.

I've seen hearts beat sharp
For what they thought to be glimpses
Of a love that still firmly flickers
Too far for reason's grasp.

I've heard tales,
Too many now to cast;
Human nature's all the same
For love is gold and gold does not rust.
