Limerance
like winter's splinters
leaves skin wincing,
timber limbs frostbitten
tinsel shimmers
but the heat still lingers,
smoulders tinder;
what was once
stronger than a whimper,
twin flames dwindled
to burning cinders
now hinders, injures.
