You rode in the sidecar as a babe in arms
Your mum and dad, hot with tattoos and flying hair
Wild on Harleys, beer and leather.
By six you’re racing other kids at Bantam,
You won more times than not -
Your dusty mantelpiece stuffed with cups.
You love the off-road challenge -
a Boggy Acre, a Floor too Cool for Corn.
Doing zero to sixty in the blink of an eye.
You carry your helmet like a severed head
In your pictures in the local news.
The bridge at midnight trembles
As your gang roar back to base.
The cops can stuff their speeding fines -
You’re hot with tattoos and flying hair,
Wild on Harleys, beer and leather.
