The mountain beside my house
I climb it when I'm not okay
I take the walk to the base
tall wiry weeds
crunch beneath my feet
Press my hand to the first rock
slightly slippery from yesterday's rain
and pull myself up
piece by piece I work for my reward
Sweat pouring
Muscles screaming
The top
Overlooks the entire town
Tiny dollhouse buildings
of this small prison of a town
Trees scattered around
A wonderful awe inspiring breath taking view
I step forward
Pebbles skitter over the edge as I peer down
hands shaking
breath rattling
and wonder
Just for a second
What it would feel like to jump
