Gather round gather one and all
To see this Jesus "Lord of great and small"
See him wear his crimson crown
See how the mighty have fallen down!
Like drops of blood upon his brow
Where, oh wise one, is your God now?
Look upon the nails that hold him fast
As it is written, it shall come to pass
He who raised people from the grave
He, himself, he cannot save

My lance pierced his bleeding heart
And then the veil was torn apart
The earth trembled, the Heavens shook
Jesus of Nazareth condemned as a crook
Jesus, teacher and carpenter's son
Proclaiming himself the chosen one

Now washed in the flow of water and blood
My eyes are open to the depths of love
Perhaps he is who he claims to be
I was a prisoner who has been set free
I gave him death and he gave me life
Jesus, please remember me when,
In power and glory, you return again
I am unworthy, but you made me new
I gladly give my life in service of you
