Dec 13
Dying embers
Warmth escaping
A worn smolder
Still hanging on

Not yet ashes
A memory
Of brilliance
Before it’s gone

Somehow a spark
Crackles and skips
On the last twig
Nearly beyond

And was enough
To light the night
With one flicker
Hopeful and strong
