Gulf Wind
I was raised
by a strong gulf wind
Muddy rivers and people
with perpetually brown skin
They say the sky's
the limit
Under a humid full moon
I've danced all night
hungover to the dawn's early gloom
Slide guitars sho' nuff boil my blood
Mudbugs and beer
make it easy to cheer
And I sleep
wherever I fall
Inside a shotgun house
made with cyprus walls
I drink cold dripped coffee
from small demitasse cups
sweet with the aftertaste
of fresh hazelnuts
C'est Chaud !
