when i was younger
they told me i could be anything...
...as long as i worked hard enough
                                      (they lied)

growing up                   i was oblivious
as to what I wanted to be
(i never was much good at anything)
                   until
                            You
                                    showed
                                                   up...

i stood a bit straighter                (more like a lot)
dressed a bit nicer   (all my money went to clothes)
and smiled a bit brighter
                                                but You didn't notice...
(4 years of braces down the drain)

now...
                             here i am
              17                                       years young
and                all                 i                  yearn          for

                     is to be

                                  Yours...

                                                      (but i can't be)
The first poem i have written in years... i don't know if it's good or bad to have something to write about.
