All of these roots feel heavy

Ghosts on every corner
reminders of scraped knees
finding love in the leisure centre carpark

Blurry eyes from chlorine
drinking cider in the park
our ribs hurt from laughing so hard

A lost summer that moved too fast

The streets all look the same
some of the memories fade

Hearts carved into the trees

It’s a place stuck in the past
