Friends from childhood
Ignored and abandoned
Grew up concomitantly
Yet so differently

Days of hunger
Hanging around at a film theatre
Pocket picking only option
Do the deed with hope of escaping

Passing the purse
To his friend an accomplice
Tries to flee the scene
Before doing an act so obscene

Cought by the public
Mind and body static
The friend does not panic
Hides the wallet under the car wheels

Cought red handed
Turns the tables single handed
Lays the blame on his friend
And claims total innocence

The accomplice under the radar
Beaten up and questioned by the public at large
Questioned if he took it
Denies it vehemently

Forced to return the stolen wallet
Doesn't think even for a minute
Claims innocence of its whereabouts
Doesn't help in easing the people's doubts

Finally grilled if his friend did the act
Replies I have no idea about  the fact
Death at you doorstep never rat
Learnt from this young boy whose character is intact
