Taken the time
to get to know you
A gate held open for you
Trusting cast iron,
melted into a mould,
and solidified into a hold
A rusty key
Still unlocked gates for free
Once through the iron gates
Wrought iron deteriorates
Heated and worked with tools
Rusted and thin
Sandpaper wire brush
Warm soapy water,
for the rust
The key is this
Scrub away the rust spots,
before it penetrates,
into lasting rust clots
