Waning moon
Hollow hearts of ancient oaks
baren are the arms of winter's coats
Awakened
to the crush
of frozen snow
crisps in air
sun so low
Lend me soul
and fly away
To clear skies
and wish the day
I struggled
with weakness
Found it strong
Find its truths
deceitful
say my wrongs
The cold
is of my bones
Reminds me
death's calling
from home
The warmth of
July's gone
Replaced with certainties
you can't prolong
So be it my flesh of blue
The bite stings ever true
Yet the heart remainsΒ Β young
As the final breath has come
Slide down beyond the oak
The last breath of sun has
choked
Eternal night now slips on in
Come ride the northern wind
