the hardest lesson i've learned from life
is freely giving parts of yourself to everyone
and hoping they share back
leaves you lost,
broken,
and scared to trust.
not everyone shares equally
and you will find yourself withering away,
until you can no longer feel anything.
you become nothing but an empty shell of who you were before.
yet people will still demand your light,
your support,
and your love.
if it is not given they get angry,
calling you "cold" or "heartless."
and you will believe them.
because at the end of it all you still care,
even after losing yourself.
