i used to write about how i saw the world
in nothing but shades of blue.
it reminded me of cold hallways,
of loud, sleepless nights.

that was when i started painting my world
in monotone colors as i saw everything
in nothing but its complete dullness.
indifference, mundane.

not until you came along bursting in colors.

shades of yellow, sky blue, and white
came with an obnoxious, prideful attitude.
too bright, too overbearing.

over time, you showed subtle hues
of softness, of vulnerability,
then i thought to myself:
maybe this isn't so bad after all.

colors of red never left you,
and perhaps, this time, i'm sure:
it was the color of passion,
and of love.
every color you hold screams beautiful.
