Rings
You wore a ring on every finger
and I wondered how it felt
in summer, when your fingers swelled
precious metals digging into your flesh
and I thought that
maybe it was a punishment
for the ring you no longer wore
maybe he is the fire of the sun
burning the skin of your fingers,
the spot that was pale white for so long
so that you never forget
