A fool's eyes survey you,
Then flicker away
In sudden retreat

You are too beautiful
And my mind quakes,
My skin sweats

When you were writhing in pain
I was wandering around, cursing at the sky.

You were too beautiful
To be in so much pain,
And I
Was too idle,
Absent.

But the stars keep burning in the sky.
How do you think
I should spend my time?
