As I see, you are lying, there
I remember, all the time, you cared.

It’s hard to see,
Sometimes now, the person, that you, used to be.

Thinking of how life is so unfair,
And of all those times, that you were there.

For us, in so many ways,
No words can describe what I want to say.

To you, for everything that you did do,
For us all, without you, we will all feel blue.

To see you each time,
Trying to keep smiling back at you, to say we are fine.

But to know, that, you are not the same,
To look back, only to see, who you once, use to be, in our memories and family photo frames.

You are still there, somewhere, sometimes,
Sometime, some days, you are almost, just, fine.

Then, just like that, in a split second gone,
So many years, gone by, slowly, for you, this time, did it feel so long?

You fought, to stay, for us, such a long time,
When we knew that you were not really, feeling fine.

To see you, lying there, your teeth so yellow,
To remember, how you once were, a good gentleman type fellow.

To watch you, slowly, fade away, in front of us,
Never, did you make that much, of a fuss.

We were always, silently praying, that you weren’t in so much pain,
To know, in our hearts, that you, will never be the same.

On my last visit, you seemed, a little, brighter,
To show us all, that you, were still, a fighter.

We knew, you were, sadly, on your own, fighting, this last battle,
But no matter, how prepared we tried to be, it still rattled,

Us all,
When we received that dreaded call.

We just hope that you weren’t in that much pain,
Life with out you, won’t ever be the same.

Thank you, for, ALL those, fighting years,
When, the rain falls, each time, they are our silent tears.

We, will remember, who, YOU, once were, NOT how you were at the end,
Only, in time, our hearts, I prey, will slowly mend.
-Love you PA
May you rest in peace.
