My days are so lonely and puerile
They merge like the sun to the sea
My being is so empty and futile
Without you here I’m just not me

My tears when they fall burn like fire
They can’t understand why you’ve gone
My mind is a bird cut by wire
When it should’ve been singing its song

My emotions are just like tomorrow
They’re not healing or easing with time
My feelings of such pain and sorrow
Only you are my reason, my rhyme

My desolate thoughts too abundant
They’re all I have to hold on to
As a man I feel so redundant
Why can’t I be there with you?

My humour has all but given in
Laughter a thing of the past
A smile, a grin, a keep up your chin
Are my thoughts of you that will last!

My nights are so lonely and empty
They’re cold and so lacking in life
My heart it feels so heavy and weary
Without you my beautiful wife
