THE LOVE OF THE SOUL
They were too young; they scarcely passed their ten,
but when they saw each other, they turned red.
I feigned l did not notice what they showed
and left the room but kept an eye on them.

They saw l left the room, which made them glad.
They sat beside each other, and they smiled.
He stretched his hand to touch her little hand,
and she caught his and looked at his red face.

Their faces were so sweet, and their eyes joined
the purest rays that bound them in a stance
which made them one in person, so content,
quite unaware of what there was around.

In this elated state they remained long.
The soul of each has joined the other's soul.
They both could reach the heaven of deep love
so far from me when l entered their room.
