I met him in the dimming light
When things are dark and hazy.
His hand took mine in the fading light,
His lips found me among the winking stars
But too soon he disappeared into the coming light
And I was left alone again.

I returned to find him in the twilight
But he was not anywhere to be found.
And so I came again,
But my hopes were shattered
For my love never showed his face.
At least not to me in the dim light.

And so with jealousy and envy
I smashed every plate within my sight.
And cried, the tears mixing with my blood,
Then he came finally.
And I turned my back on him,
His sweet words meant nothing.
My love born of the dimming light
Had betrayed me.
