The will to live in a manner we deem as “well" or “successful" often invades and consumes the reality of who we already are.

I will be happy.
I will be loved.
I will see the future bettered.
I will see a greener world.
I will see my efforts transform into fruits.
I will read and finish these books piled up on my drawer.
I will find a man.
He will be my best friend and husband.
I will finish college.
I will find myself more and more.
I will grow.
I will have a family.
I will have kids.
I will struggle.
I will find happiness.
I will be healthier and with that, lose unwanted pounds.
I will visit and travel and see the world.
I will, I will I will.

but WHO is the one that will?
has the will TO be something or someone overshadowed who we ARE indefinitely?

I am alive.
I am a girl.
I am growing.
I am struggling.
I am happy.
I am laughing.
I am crying.
I am a daughter.
I am a friend.
I am an employee.
I am a student.
I am a sister.
I am a Christian, a disciple of Jesus.
I am educated.
I am adopted into the Kingdom of God FOREVER.
I am God’s daughter.
I am unique.
I am flawed.
I am refined daily.
I am learning.
I am growing.

the will to live is powerful.
the will to live well is desirable.
the will to live will teeter totter given the changes in emotion, relationships and surroundings.

but who i am?

who i am is real and right now.
who i am is everlasting.
who i am is revealed and reckoned with constantly.
who i am is the one who will.
and if listening and knowing who created and designed me so intricately with purpose leads me to understand who i am in who He is?

THEN the will to live has direction.
THEN the will to live well has meaning.
THEN the will to live successfully answers to the One who created it all.

I won’t be someday, I already am today.
That gives me the confidence to let go of my personal expectations, and let in, let God’s Holy Spirit transform and give me His, His heart, His.
