I went to look for joy
And spiraled down a rabbit hole
Suspended I stood upon a bridge
Between brimmed abundance
And the barely there

I submerged like a swampy raft
Gasping for air in the turbid water
I passed out but came back to my senses

And there they were...
In the beginnings of a smile in tear filled eyes
In murky footprints of a shoeless child
In wrinkled laughter of an aged sage
In the resonating quote on a yellowed page.
In the rustling breeze of a balmy day
In withered dandelions out at play
In losing myself in warm summer nights
In wispy sparkles of firefly lights
And then I delved deep into my soul
In breaths inhaled and exhaled whole
In living and learning and there I found
A fleeting thing called joy and felt profound
