At Peace With Myself
Today I feel fantastic
Waking up with a smirk
I think I'll play a classic
And put on my favorite shirt
Walk out to a sun-rising breeze
Hair blowing in the wind
I look over I see a hive of honeybees
Their sight makes my heart mend
This idea that I can be anything
I relish in my potential
Days like this make my spirit sing
Like the lyrics to an instrumental
As the time progresses
With each passing minute
There's an alleviation of stresses
Previous bad relationships amended
The clocks turn to five
Confidence grows with each step
A glimmer of hope in every stride
Glad to have a house and a cashed check
I finally have some peace
No worries in my brain
Returning home from busy streets
A happy life is what I aim
As I sit here writing at eight
Music playing in my ears
I imagine new lines to create
To justify the deserved cheers
I'll fall asleep as midnight closes in
Thankful that I found sense of being
The day slows to an end
My mind is clear so I know what I'm seeing
The fact that we are alive
Satisfaction will then follow
Be grateful when we survive
In anticipation of an even better tomorrow
