Heartlights unobstructed
are bright and nearly joyful;
they almost look like happy eyes.
From further away,
they are a bit dim, but still beacons
of hope and acceptance.
The heartlights as seen while blinking
are sporadic but sincere,

but the ones viewed with head tilted
and through the thin, shadowy branches
are the most accurate.
