Blessing in disguise
One-sided love, he’s not my first
I’m the devilish one, he’s the angelic burst
Different yet the same,
Every time he whispers my name.
It must be bad karma,
What I did to everyone before
That’s why I walk alone—
But I’m not lonely,
I’m alive with a strange, quiet joy.
Perhaps this is good karma,
He’s my blessing in disguise,
Maybe the angel who drifts from the skies.
No horns adorn me,
No thorns crown my head
No halo hovers above—
I’ll simply say hello.
No wooden staff to guide me,
No golden calf to worship,
No wings to lift me above the clouds,
Yet I’m happy enough to weep.
I cannot part seas,
Cannot reach the farthest shore,
Cannot cross oceans or tread on water,
Cannot perform miracles.
But I hope you’ll see,
I am not who I was before,
I drifted like the wind for a time,
And the oracle whispered of this hour.
