meteor
Little rock in space,
you float and you yearn and you spend
Hitched your wagon to the wrong star,
burning out before your journey’s end
The embers catch you, wasting -
you’re not enough for yourself
But you’re not home yet
and it’s all you can do
to ration the last of you
to the seemingly endless length of life ahead
Maybe you will never see another soul again.
