Life has a way of keeping you drunk
High on emotion or submerged in devotion
Sipping shots of anxiety,
Chased down with depression.
From a feeling of love
Through to anger and aggression.
A champagne flute of memories
With cocktails of regret.
You're rich in experience
But drowning in debt.
In a vat of self-pity
You uncork some wine.
While telling yourself
It will be different this time.
So, lift up your life
And tell everybody cheers.
Wash away your misgivings
In the backwash of beers.
You don't have to drink alcohol
For others to see.
The struggles you endure
For life's sobriety.
