The glass shattered,the wine spilled.
Smiles frowned back, broken, alike the glass.
The velour liquid running over the creases of our hands like our hopes ran out on us.
The music in the background was mocking our mistakes. It's melodies and rhymes pointing them out one delusion at a time.
The chilly winter breeze felt warmer than our cold hearts.
Your once familiar eyes had lost the intimacy they shared with mine.
Time has absorbed all the past memories as the wine in the carpet
Yet they called for our souls to reunite as though begging us to submit

But darling don't you surrender
Cause neither shall I.
