The water tranquil and still before you
In the waters your reflection you do see
But nothing more than what already is
And what has always been

So there you stand searching the great unknown
Searching for meaning behind the glass before you
Searching for depth where there is none
For meaning where none can be found

But still you stand convinced there is something more
Convinced beneath the waters lies a soul you want to know
Convinced you can see through the pretence
Convinced you can see at all

So slowly you begin moving ever closer
Your toe now in the water
Neither hot nor cold
It changes with your own temperature

But still in you walk hoping to find
What exactly you’re not sure
So you walk in
Looking but not seeing

The water begins to move
Rising and falling
Like breath entering the chest cavity for a brief moment
Before once again departing from it

But the water stays clear
No ripples to be seen
The creature moving beneath unknown
But yet so inviting

And on you walk
