A koel* is born
In the nest of a raven
At birth it is torn
From its surrogate haven
With no mother born
It spreads its wings

In agony it sings
When out of its screams
A song in the morn
That echoes its dreams
Indeed a symphony, it is sworn
A eulogy it seems………..

An ugly dark mother
Has orphaned a melodious singer.
*Koel is a black bird with a long tail and resembles a crow. They are usually found in Tropical countries where they have been praised repeatedly by poets in the vernacular for their melodious sweet voice....
