Independence has run the race and is the victor in my soul
I am always free to be the one I choose to be
No ties that bind wind round my heart
Yet in this victory won, I have no one to hold

Alone I am and standing tall and proud
My head I hold so high
But when I lay me down to sleep
Are these the tears of freedom that I cry?

A choice I have made to live this life
Of freedom without chains
To go and do as I **** well please
With no one to call my name

Most days I smile and thank my lucky stars
For this freedom I have pursued
But sometimes when all grows quiet here
To myself………I wonder what I do
