She was alone, damaged and broken
Lips filled with words unspoken
Her very soul conquered by fear
The least she did was to shed a tear

She bore the agony of a traumatic past
Nightmares haunted her like they’ll never last
Her precious innocence shattered like a glass
Her childhood slipped away as moments passed

But she grew stronger than ever before
Her lips were in silence no more
She learned to speak of that dreadful day
She stood up, looked back, and put the past away
