The time that moves past
Future comes into focus
Memories are all I have
To remind me of the present

A burnt letter crackles
Inside it turns into blazing blackness
Perdition resembles the edges
The fire engorges the pages

I remember how the lassitude was
When I was young and full of worth
Law and order was never the same
The older I got the more I forgot

That time can be expressive
It is like a beautiful lady
That slips through your fingers
Even when it is as clear as water
