Perfect Day
I turned my head to look away,
Because I wanted a perfect day,
Perfect moments planned by me,
But I was blind and could not see.
I saw the starving, lonely man,
Look deep inside the garbage can,
But I above such filth and grime,
Could give no comfort and no time.
The lady dressed in garbage bags,
With ***** stockings, how they sagged,
Had nerve to come so close to me,
That in my mind I had to flee.
The little child so hungry and lost,
Would give their souls at such a cost,
For hunger drives them to deny,
See how they lay there and never cry.
But soon at home when all is well,
To all my loved ones I will tell,
Of how the homeless spoiled my day,
In telling the story, I look away.
