Mar 2020
Today at 8pm
My family stood at our front door
To applaud the efforts
Of our national health service workers

Neighbours I have not yet met
Stood all down our street
And we clapped and cheered
And generated a new sense of togetherness

I have learned
A greater appreciation
For all the efforts that are being made
By people to create society

This is the world we need
Where people treasure people
And each precious contribution
Is valued and honoured
UK residents clap for the carers for the first time at 8pm
