Did I not live for a life of pleasure
Did I not live my life to please
The soul wherewith I am now displeased?
For lack of sense
For being too dense
I now live with the terrible sense
That this is the end of my life
No wants
No thoughts
Would I dare to utter
For it is my soul that does make me shutter
For all its writhing
For all its taking
For all its sins does it now shake
And does tremble before the gate
Oh death come quickly
Oh fate do pass
Over my body will I at last
Face my death
And face my enemy
The devil
The demon
He did tremble
But not at my arrival
He did smile thus at me
He did laugh and hint to me
That the wrath God did come
Oh thou fool
Oh thou simple
Why did I not mind what was uttered
For all creation did stand and utter
The glory of him could make the greatest stutter
Remember my state as you do pass
For your state was once mine
And my state will soon be yours
Prepare for death
And flee from those who follow me.
Prepare for death
And do not follow me!
