Crazy Eyes
Sometimes something will
Set off a memory
I'd buried deep inside of me.
It could be a random cologne
In the grocery store
Or a little noise that ticks me
The wrong way.
And when I start to consider it
Turning the memory
Over in my mind
The love of my life
Will break the spell
"You've got your crazy eyes"
And I
blink once, no twice
Before I come back to reality
I smile at his Leery face
And shake my head
Burying the anger and frustration below
"Sorry, just remembered something."
I guess I have a special smile for this
One that he recognises
But I don't.
Because he just stares for a moment longer
Searching
Before he nods and holds my hand.
