I'm just a fool
On a subway train
Talking about the one
That got away
The people in the station
They know my name
And the girl I'll never see again

I wish that I could cry
But I'd sound so naive
I could Find a way to lie
And say she never loved me

She played my games
And I broke her heart
But she gave it to me
Right from the start
I'm just a man
And I make mistakes
I'm only human
But I'm less than that today

I'm just the fool
Who said goodbye
Even though that's not
What I had in mind
Everyone knows
That I'm to blame
They call it a loss
And say it's a shame

I wish that I could
Fall on my knees
And shout to the Heavens
"Woe is me"
Shame on me

She played my games
And I broke her heart
But she gave it to me
Right from the start
I'm just a man
And I make mistakes
I'm only human
But I'm less than that today
