The blood was trickling
Down your lifeless face
A bandage couldn't
Contain the pain
You endured

Your bruised cheek
Faced the white ceiling
Your eyes still open
More blank than
My face when I saw
You in your last state
Of this life

Your arm dangled
Off of the bed
Staining red on the
Newly cleaned sheets
Set up for you

And my heart raced
With such an impulse
That you would never again
Get to experience

There are some sights
Better off not seen
But even if I had the choice
I wouldn't have been able
To look away
I can't
I can't
I can't
