May 2013
she sat across the bar from me
almost within reach
and throughout the night
we would catch each other's eye
sworn she smiled
once or twice
but then she left
and we had never
said a word
just a quick glance back
as the door shut behind her

good riddance
I'm glad she's gone
got to keep your distance
that moment was
more than enough
whoever she is
will share a small memory
with me forever
and that's just enough
anymore and it leads
to complications
and chaos
got to keep your distance
can't get too close
she knows it
--just like I do--
that's why we never
said a word

everything is
more beautiful
from far away
