I dreamed of Columbine
for months at a time,
So dark a place it was.
I swear I'll never go back.
Numbness take me,
Inhumanity break me,
Never go back.

Waiting to be born,
I felt so old,
When I tried to burn
away the cold.
I awoke upon red snow,
Blood-stained, steam rising,
Demon-born from silent agonizing.

Dreaming of Columbine
for months at a time,
I never let them know
how close I came
fire on a forgotten factory floor
and instead won
the quiet game.
