I woke up a little late just to find out that
the animal was gone;
he left the sheets tussled
along with the smell of cigarettes
still stained in my mouth.

But we made love the other night;
He made the stars look bigger
and brighter than ever;
how could he just leave me
With no hint of forever?

But I loved him; I loved him, I loved him;
I loved him to his core; I loved his heavy breathing;
I loved him even more than the flowers love the rain-
For accepting every ounce of pain-
I loved him just enough to let him go.
