In my arms, is where you lie
As the world slowly enters another war
I cannot hear a thing
Tangled in skin, covered only with a blanket
I wish I was there a bit more
But now all that matters is the silence in this room
Brought forth by a friend with a shield when you cried out
I rushed to you with the flashes of red white and blue
Hoping time would serve the best
But now I take comfort in knowing that your safe
With our time alone you asked a question or two
And honesty in I gave
You felt weird  knowing that I helped you so much
Yet what you knew of me was so little
In time I hope that will change
But now I rest my head as do you
Giving thanks for the day's grace and will
In hopes that our last salvation will hold true
With the final moments  of slumber you whisper,
"I love you"
