If I Could
If I Could I Would
go back to my genetic ancestry,
swim unmussed by personality
in a rain filled quarry. A
clean shell in a pocked
landscape, prior to pain,
prior to, God knows, love
knows me.
recline in the primordial ooze.
one cell, untransmittable.
Unable to become, anything.
leave, God, this one small
organism guiltless of begetting
just this one girl in the
frozen forests of the human
future.
