You were there at the beginning,
You were THE beginning.
I didn’t know much of anything:
What to say, or how to say it.
I never held your hand because
    I was always too nervous,
Too nervous to even talk to you.

How pathetic.

You were my beginning, and you were my end.
I wonder what you’d think of me now.
