May 2010
She walked on an emotional precipice
Foolishly testing her balance
As she could hide nothing from them
Even filling all of the possible silence

Feeling so separate and dreadfully unique
A resilient shield she had worn for years
An armor of protection for privacy
Used to hide from the truth and the fear

Unsettled by thoughts of their perception
Yet being securely and deeply connected to it all
In faith she stepped off with one foot
So amazed that she did not fall

Then seeing the dismal past, present and future
A cold dark effervescence bubbled up deep inside
No longer wishing to feel the emptiness
She stepped off with the other and now flies
