Dec 2019
This summer is different.
The sun warms stiff wintery bones just right.
The winds brush through my hair like fingers.
The water laughs and plays like children around me.

This summer is different.
The rain is heavy like my favourite coat.
The trees are taller than I remember.
The days are never long enough.

This summer is different.
I am alone for the first time.
It is so quiet; I can now hear my body speak to me.
This time, I will listen.
