notes on the decline
your mother came at my mother with a fork.
those first days
though I kept it from you
I told myself
you were too sad to eat.
-
dusk, hide & seek.
I’d count
and you’d count
behind me.
-
dusk, losing sight
of the frisbee. the scarecrow
we think is a scarecrow
until it bends to pick up
a cat. we think is kind
until it swallows
the cat
cat noises
and all.
-
I think I’m elderly
you somehow
replied.
