he found her off guard
quietly and contently observing her new life
he never pried at her
or got down on his knees begging,
"sweet angel, be mine!"
he let her tilt her head in playful curiosity
he let his mellow charm do all the talking
and she let her graceful heart do all the moving
when she gave in to that kiss in the pool hall
after that, he knew he'd never have to beg
she was the one whispering
"sweet angel, be mine!"
