You never want to feel like
that again, never want to experience
that kind of trauma. You don’t need
the drama. You’re too old for

it now. So, you overcompensate
to make up for yesterday. But by pulling
back that much you messed up someone else
who was looking up to you, with teary

eyes and stormy dreams to help her
find some way out of this forest of entangled
trees that you both caught yourself in. But
wait! I believe that somewhere lies

a balance. It’s been a challenge. But we’re
getting there. It’s taken many years to learn what
we need separately and what we can both do
together to uphold ourselves and the relationship as well.
